Move to Spain with Confidence

YES - it's worth it. I know many people reading this are wondering if it is, and let me tell you, my stress level was so much lower working with Christine. She helped us find housing (and we even had pets!). And not just any housing - housing we love with a landlord we adore and that I constantly wish I could afford to buy;) People always ask me how we found our place and I tell them all about Christine. She also helped us choose a school for our daughter that was a great fit, and also hooked us up with a great language school where we made tons of new friends. She is constantly sharing things going on in town, and we were able to feel a real sense of community when we arrived. Having her recommendations and knowledge available to me was invaluable. She even got me a padron appointment within 48 hours and I was able to have my padron and TIE in just over one month, which is almost unheard of (all those acronyms? IYKYK). Some people have the time and energy to do it all on their own - which you certainly can. Me? There were other things I needed to use my time for since I work full time and do a lot of solo-parenting (there are different levels of support you can get to match your needs too). Christine is a kind and supportive person with a wealth of knowledge. I'm forever grateful!

Our family moved to Spain four months ago and we had a wonderful experience with Your Year in Spain. Christine suggested a school for our son that suits him perfectly, and it was one that I would not have otherwise found out about. She even went with us to the interview with the school counselor to help translate. Our son is liking school, has made friends, and is super happy here in Granada. Christine went above and beyond to help get us to Spain. Between finding us the perfect house to rent (with cats!), helping us navigate new visa rules, connecting us with lawyers and translators, and helping with school enrollment and local municipal registration, she worked tirelessly and with patience and good humor to help make our transition as smooth and pleasant as possible. Once we arrived, she continued to be helpful, alerting us to upcoming concerts, activities, etc. We are so grateful to have had Christine at our side!

We have dreamed for many years of taking a sabbatical year in Spain and this year, with the help of Christine, we made it happen! Christine has been extremely helpful in assisting us with navigating the Spanish bureaucracy. We’ve met many families in Madrid who are trying to get their residency applications approved and each one seems to have their own unique challenges. Christine has been available every step of the way; securing appointments, rewriting our rental lease to meet Spanish “padron” requirements, talking to immigration authorities during our appointments, and more. She is patient, detail oriented and a problem solver. We would definitely recommend her and Year in Spain to help make an otherwise daunting process manageable.

When we decided to move from Australia for six months, the biggest worry was the large amount of admin required, and dealing with the Spanish bureaucracy. Thankfully from the initial consult with Christine I was convinced that all of these worries would be manageable. Having only a relatively short time here, we needed to make sure we were not wasting it on life admin. As it was, we arrived with a house to move straight in to, the kids enrolled in schools, and a clear pathway to get the visas that were best for us. Plus, the knowledge that Christine was always available for questions about the vagaries of Spanish life. I don’t think anyone would describe such a move as easy, but having the security of knowing that it was all being taken care of, meant that we could get on with enjoying life and the many new experiences here. We would definitely recommend her to anyone, even if just for an initial consult.
